Adoptions
Desperately Needed!
The year 2009 saw us
with very few adoptions. We need adoptions, in addition to
donations, if we are to continue rescuing horses. If
you are about to add a horse to your family, here are some thoughts
to keep in mind:
-
When considering adopting a rescue horse, please understand that
the adoption fees are a major source of funding for rescues.
These fees help to provide grain, hay, and veterinary care for
the horses that remain at the rescue and help the rescue to be
able to save more horses. Rescues can’t afford to “give away”
all of their horses. While we would love to be able to do that,
we would soon be out of business if we did!
-
Many of our horses have had long rehabilitations. These horses
will have higher adoption fees because of the expense involved
in brining them back to healthy body condition and frame of
mind.
-
Rescuing is not about finding good horses at bargain basement
prices. Rescue horses are not well-trained. Well-trained horses
don’t need to be rescued, and rescues can’t afford to put all of
their horses in training. Rescuing is about love and caring.
It’s about finding unloved and unwanted horses and giving them a
chance for a good life.
If you, or anyone you know, are looking for a
horse, please consider adopting one of ours.
